Far East Mobility for GOPA and GIZ under the highly influential Indobus program was the technical lead on the BRT design and also carried out the operational planning in Bandung. The project in 2022 involves intermittent input follow-up BRT planning and design building on the Feasibility Study produced primarily in 2020. Key tasks include surveys and data collection, BRT operational planning (especially the minibus or angkot sector impacts), capacity building, traffic impacts, and modal integration planning and design. A particular challenge in Bandung is that the BRT stations, corridors and routes proposed in the 2020 FS were heavily modified by subsequent consultants in 2021 not well aware of the local context and these modified BRT stations, corridors and routes have now been approved for implementation, with the resulting BRT system now consisting mainly of low capacity kerbside BRT lanes and stations without overtaking lanes and possibly without pre-board fare collection.
